Key Management Personnel

PTS’ management team consists of individuals with key experience in the electric utility and business and technology areas; including business development, IP law, electric power, mechanical and material engineering. 

Manuchehr Shirmohamadi, Ph.D., P.E. – Chairman of the Board and CTO       
Manuchehr is the founder of Material Integrity Solutions, Inc. (now owned by PAC) and PTS and the inventor of SLiM and DeIcer technologies.  He has over 25 years of technical experience in various industries and has expertise in the fields of materials, design, and analysis.  He has been the principal investigator for a number of R&D projects for government and private industries including this current technology.  Manuchehr has B.S. and M.S. in Civil/Structural engineering and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley.  He also holds a number of patents. 

Dariush Shirmohammadi, Ph.D., PEng, FIEEE – CEO and Board Member 
Dariush is the founder and chief Consultant with Shir Power Engineering Consultants, Inc.  His career path includes Director of Regional Transmission Organization with the California ISO, Vice President of Solution Consulting with OM Group, Chief Technologist with North American Energy Credit and Clearing Corporation, Managing Consultant of the Energy Practice with PA Consulting Group, Director of Emerging Energy Market Services with Perot Systems and Director of Energy System Automation with the Pacific Gas and Electric Company.  In his business development assignments, in addition to founding his own company in 1996, he has sold well over $50M worth of projects to the electric power utility industry. Dariush holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, and MASc and PhD degrees in Electric Power Engineering from the University of Toronto. 

Adam Bell, Ph.D., J.D. – Intellectual Property Legal Council and Board Member 
Adam Bell practices patent law in the San Francisco Bay Area. He holds a doctorate (D.Phil.) in Biochemistry from Oxford and a law degree from the University of California. He has served as patent counsel at Incyte Genomics, Cell Genesys and Durect Corporation. He serves as an IP advisor for Davis Bioscience and hedge-fund advisor. Dr. Bell is admitted to practice law in California and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. 

David Kopperdahl, Ph.D. – Engineering Advisor
As a lead engineer at Material Integrity Solutions, David was integral to the development of the Sagging Line Mitigator (SLiM) from concept to production.  As Director of Engineering and Research at Power Transmission Solutions, he continued to contribute to manufacturing processes, design improvement, and implementation of SLiM.  Now, as Engineering Advisor to PTS, David continues his contributions to PTS on an as-needed basis. David has over 16 years of experience developing mechanical and electro-mechanical devices in both the power industry and bioengineering with particular expertise in mechanism design, stress analysis, finite element methods, materials testing, and machining/ fabrication processes.  David received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Davis, and his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Ph.D. in Biomechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley.  He has numerous technical publications. He is also active in biotech industry in the development of radiological tools for medical diagnostics and surgical planning.

Reza Jannatpour, VP, Corporate and Business Development, Marketing and Sales
Reza recently joined PTS to work on the first round funding, business development, marketing and sales operation.  Prior to PTS, Reza was corporate development consultant to technology start-up companies, principle at Sensei Partners (an early stage VC), and CEO of UCB (an IT professional services company).  His career started at IBM holding product development, marketing and sales positions.  Reza has a BS and MS in Computer Engineering and Science.

Key Advisory Board Members

Roger J. Gray, PE 
Roger was CEO and President of PTS during its utility acceptance phase and is now on PTS’ advisory board.  He has over 20 years of experience in the electric utility industry working for PG&E, LADWP, SCE and Duke/LouisDreyfus.  His last positions at PG&E were CIO and General Manager of ETrans, PG&E planned electric transmission spin-off company.  His experience included electric utility operations and planning and a variety of other positions.  Mr. Gray was a member of PG&E’s management committee and was also responsible for business development at PG&E.  Roger has B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. 

Ed Cazlet, PhD
Ed is currently VP at Megawatt Storage Farms.  He was past governor of California ISO and past founder/CEO of APX.

Roberta Brown, PE
Current president, Sassafras River Associates.
Past VP of Transmission at PEPCO
